Music is not subjective. If you think it is, please stop reading this blog you smug fart sniffing douche. That being said, feel free to aid me in talking colossal amounts of shit about these horrible bands.
This blog has a few segments:

ACTUALLY AWESOME - Videos or songs that are actually worth a listen.

I write this shit. I don't make the music or take the pictures.
Admittedly this is the only song I’ve heard by So Many Ways so I might be misjudging them; however, it is my assumption that most of their songs sound this way. Yell a little, sing a chorus or two, toss in bridge. Anyway, their predictability is not what bothers me. It’s all the weird shit they do.
Like what’s up with the annoying ass solo/lead at the end of the song? Also, fuck off with the preachy talky bullshit in the bridge. This is another thing that Set Your Goals has ruined for everyone. Please Stop talking in songs. Especially when you have nothing interesting to say. On rare occasion does this get a pass, but the lyrics have to be good.
Okay last thing. The super contrived stomp part. Completely unnecessary. Super annoying. You’re not Trash Talk, you’re not Trapped Under Ice. You guys, and every other band like you, need to figure out your genre and stick to it. I understand that you are influenced by a bunch of different music. So is everyone else. Did you know that Taking Back Sunday was influenced by Lifetime. Could you imagine if they threw a punk beat into a song like “You’re So Last Summer”. It would have completely ruined the tone of the song.
All you bands out their that aren’t reading this. STOP TRYING TO MAKE A MUSIC CASSEROLE AND WRITE A SONG.
Look, this post is just going to be me being picky. I’d say melodic hardcore/pop-punk/hardcore are genres I’m very familiar with so I just wanted to take the time to teach you the difference between bands that are doing this right and bands that are doing this wrong.
With The Punches, I’m sorry, I don’t mean to single you out I’m just using you as an example. Plenty of bands are worse. What bothers me is that you’re bringing nothing new to the table and you’re copying a vocal fad that caught fire when Set Your Goals decided to ruin posicore. First of all, your name is annoying. “With The Punches” is so cliche it … wait a second, nevermind the name suits you well. Second, two bad singers doesn’t make one good singer. Just figure out who can get the job done and do it. You might be thinking, “hey, what about Title Fight; they have two singers”. Yes, they do. Wow, you can count. I’ll admit Title Fight went a little overboard with the switching on their first release, but if you listen to the album “Shed” I think you’d be pleasantly surprised at the fact that each singer has found his niche. For example, listen to the tracks “27” and “Shed”, then listen to “Dreamcatchers” (B-Side) and “Flood of 72”. Title Fight, you’re doing it right. With The Punches, you and 700 other bands are doing it wrong. If it makes you feel any better you just got the highest score I’ve ever given out, and the outro to your song is legit.
I was going to review Set Your Goals new album, but I fell asleep 4 songs in. Keep up the good work guys.
If you want to take a nap or you suffer from insomnia here’s a link to stream the album.
Looks like Set Your Goals has been bumping a ton of Vanessa Carlton in their tour van. If you can make it to 1:20 without falling asleep during this snoozefest you’ll see what I mean. Here is Vanessa’s video in case you don’t immediately realize how blatant of a rip off this is. As for the beginning of the song, here’s a little tip for you guys, shouting the same note while fitting in as many words as possible doesn’t make a song seem anymore intense; you just sound like the fucking micro machine guy. BTW, I hear Tailor Swift has some pretty catchy melodies; when you’re done with Vanessa maybe you can use some of hers.
Yes, that’s a negative.
